Guest Curator : three videos selected and commented by Big Deal :
1 – Badlands – “Love Is Strange” (1973)
“Too cool for words. Terrence Malick filmed most of this movie during the ‘golden hour’ or ‘magic hour’ when the sun has gone down but light is still in the air. We wanted to shoot our album cover at this time but it turned out the golden hour during the summer in London is from 9 o’clock to 10. We had a tour bus to catch at 8 so we settled on a setting sun.”
2 – Nirvana playing Twister with Smashing Pumpkins
“It doesn’t quite live up to the excitement of its title but neither does the rock and roll dream. We hope to find ourselves in a similarly inexplicable scenario someday in the near future.”
3 – Mina Mazzini – “Se Telefonando”
“Ennio Morricone wrote this piece for the italian pop star Mina before he got started scoring for films. It has a forty second verse and a two minute chorus that ascends as it repeats . It’s completely unique and amazing and makes goosebumps on every viewing. ”
