Selected by Sam :
Vivien Goldman, “Private Armies”
Sam : “Without ever realizing it, warped takes on dub music became my favorite sub-sub-sub-genre of music pretty early in life. “Private Armies” uses the basic dub structure as a springboard and then goes off in all sorts of weird directions.”
Young Bleed, “Give and Take”

Sam : Young Bleed is one of the more quietly bizarre rappers around. Later in his career, he managed to rap over some of the more esoteric production I’ve ever heard, but it’s this track that made me realize that nothing beats a dude in a champion crew neck wandering through his neighborhood rapping in a perma-relaxed state about everything that comes to mind.
Selected by Jamie :
Malcom McLaren – Eiffel Tower

Jamie : My friend Abe turned me onto this song a while ago. My general thoughts on songs from the 80s that people try and champion are that the person that found the song is into it more for personal achievement reasons than the song actually being an overlooked classic. This song legitimately jams though! Not saying it’s a classic necessarily but I would definitely say it was overlooked. Also, Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’ didn’t come out for another two years – just saying!
Pill – Trap Goin’ Ham

Jamie : It’s nice to see a trap rap video that seems genuine and homemade but also really well done. This song came out in 2009 and I’m still not sick of it. Hopefully we’ll see the long awaited full length from Pill this year. Word on the street is that he is also doing a full length with Big Boi and Killer Mike. I’ll take that too!
