Guest Curator : four videos selected and commented by Philip Seymour Hoffman :
1 – COMBO a collaborative animation by Blu and David Ellis (2 times loop)
“i don’t know anything about http://www.blublu.org/, but after running into his pieces on the streets of europe during tour and catching sight of such a sweet youtube presence the dude has for sure become one of my favorite street artists. when i was living in berlin for a bit over the summer i was just down the street from multiple building-scale murals blu had put up in kreuzberg. one of the highlights of my day was riding the u1 and being an ant in comparison to that imagination. this video is a collaboration in sound, art, and video production that’s just super fuckin’ rad and totally unique. blows me away every time i watch it…sometimes i even just close my eyes and listen.”
2 – Sky Stadium – “A Perfect View”
“my buddy jeff roman has been making, releasing, and talking about sounds more modest than i can realize, and it makes it all the more incredible to stumble upon a video like this one day only to be lifted and carried away by it’s spirit. looking at music without such a linear approach it’s not a stretch to say this tickles the warp records roster, and i often sandwich my sky stadium among boards of canada and stars of the lid in how endurable his knack for sound development is. we’ve played a couple of shows together in new jersey that have put me on the highest vibes and i’m just so stoked on his south sea cassette release that just dropped on existential cloth recordings. some of the most gorgeous sounds i’ve ever been close enough to touch.
samantha gurry, the stunning gal who put that video together, also made the video for my own “duckfangs tickle my ankles”. she’s a fucking spectacular person and visual artist and her archive is more than deserving of an exploration!”
3 – Tony and Gabe – “FMLY Ride”
“my best friends and i have been together for lifetimes longer than we’ve known each other, and fmly has existed previous to us giving it a name and a url. we are certainly not just a website, but a strong physical community. one of my favorite activities that we’ve been so lucky to have so much support for over the past year is the fmly ride, a simple jaunt in the re-territorialization of urban space with a quick nod to situationism (in regards to the dérive). bikes, bands, friends, and fun…does life get any better?”
4 – Laurie Spiegel – “Improvisations on a ‘Concerto Generator’”
“and just to end on an even more spectacular note, you should reeaallyy thank laurie spiegel every time you play with your microkorg…and then masturbate to this video.”

“hi. i’m noah, but outside the role of my favorite living actor (besides for keanu reeves and nick cage, of course) a few folks have come to know me better as philip seymour hoffman. these sounds are a small portion of my audio journal, a glimpse into my field recordings and aural sketches that i began playing with a few years ago when i left california and moved to new york. every note is an ode to my frnds and my fmly and nothing that i’ve done the past few years would be possible without that support. on top of a steady flow of recordings floating around my friends have publicly made accessible two cassettes and a 12″, the lighthouse itself is the rocket (breakfast of champs), happiness only real when shared (impose), semi-marxist like us (fmly), and i have been fortunate enough to see so much of the united states and europe for my first time while taking these living transformations on the road. these months have radically changed my life and i’ve met some of my best friends while sleeping on floors and fallen in love with new cities, scents, and lifestyles. when i figure out how to thank you, i’m going to fucking thank you huge ♥”
