Caleb Morairty : “I have to preface that our vision at Yours Truly is simply to provide a natural glimpse at these artists, letting them tell their story through their own words and music. Yours Truly is just there to provide an interesting, fitting environment to capture the story that unfolds and thus, it is the artists that deserve the most credit, letting a little bit of light in for us to enjoy. This has always been the mission of Yours Truly, set out by our lead director, Nate Chan.”
1 – Mountain Man – “Mouthwings (Part 1 of 3)”
“We shot this just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. The reverb in this tunnel was stunning, where Amelia, Alexandra, and Mollie’s gorgeous voices exploded. The silhouettes make for a haunting image and, in a way, it makes their spiritual sound seem like the product of tormented spirits.”
2 – Holly Miranda – “I’d Rather Be Blind”
“Most of the time, I’m in awe at our shoots. There’s so much talent in this world and it’s such a pleasure to witness it every single day at Yours Truly – makes me so grateful to be alive. But, when Will called up Holly Miranda and she came over to my house, sat down in the breakfast nook, and started to play this cover of Etta James’ “I’d Rather Be Blind,” I could have died right there. There was that Sunday-morning-after-an-awesome-weekend vibe in the air. Her voice was so powerful and it stoned me. I could watch/listen to this forever.”
3 – Delorean – “Grow”
“This will always be a favorite here at YT. The way Nate introduced the video/band is so well done – the motion in the images, the building sound. It’s beautiful. They’re so fresh and so welcoming in this video. But, what I love even more is that, after all of their success since we filmed them over a year ago – touring the world, huge fanbase, and more – they’re still the same humble, gracious guys.”
